Fun facts about Singlish for Westerners:
1. Hello (or rather 'Hallo') is not a greeting. It's an insult.
2. We invented a gender-neutral pronoun. It's called 'eh'.
3. Adding one word next to the word 'can' changes its meaning entirely!
3.5. Yes, we have other verbal tics besides 'lah'. Don't anyhow always add 'lah' to the end of your sentences, you'll probably sound more ridiculous than us.
4. 'Anyhow' isn't a connector or a replacement for 'anyway'. It means to do something shoddily without much thought.
5. Do not be surprised if you hear Malaysians speak it too. The colloquialism was a mish-mash of bad grammar, Chinese dialects and Malay to begin with.
6. I can't speak Singlish for nuts.
