You know, the phrase 'write from your heart' is cliche as all heck, but it's too true.

Writing for the sake of proving what a great writer you are and proving to people you can make something big and grand is...honestly...as big an error as those Hollywood writers who write only for money.

No matter how novice a writer you think you are, people will notice if you truly write something you love and care about, beyond yourself, and beyond the craft you're trying to perfect. It sounds like a small step, but it's an important step nonetheless.
